Choices

Choices

Toxic, poisoned, deadly land,
Dusty grey, polluted sand.

Sickness, pain, disease, hurt,
Rats and vermin prowl the dirt.

Pollution, concrete, obscured light,
Resource scarce, compete and fight.

Destruction, violence, sorrow, tears,
Innocent children robbed of years.

Terror, fear, blame and battle,
Media control, herd the cattle!

Lost childhood, deep regret,
Adults stuck, mounting debt,

Barren, empty, soulless gloom,
Heavy burdens, sense of doom.

Choices

Learning, caring, helping, growing,
Worthy life, higher knowing.

Fresh air, seasons, nature, green,
Pristine lakes, oceans clean.

Healthy, wholesome, natural food,
Creative kids, balanced mood.

Vibrant colours, creatures, birds,
Kind, calm people, loving words.

Work together, nurture skills,
Fulfil potential, inner thrills.

Self response, united voices,
Bigger picture, actions, choices,

Optimism, seeking beauty,
Life and planet, sense of duty.

Choices

I like the poetry but would like to see you do more free verse. Don't know if that is your thing, but be a bit daring. Also good for you...and the reader, if you tackle lighter subjects. Life is to be written about but there are many other situations you may find yourself where, for example, you might hear funny things during the conversation on a train. You don't have to go down the 'Pam Ayres' road, the dee-dah-dee-dah stuff, but open up your mind to lots more.
I write and perform my own work, too. Wonder if you get over to Sheffield, lotsa opportunities to perform there!
Good luck in all you do.
